November 2010 –Act For Peace

Christmas Bowl

The Christmas Bowl program has been supporting Act for Peace's project partners around the world for more than 60 years. It is an important symbol for individuals all around Australia who work together to promote peace, justice and partnership.

The program started in 1949 when Rev. Frank Byatt placed an empty bowl on the dinner table during Christmas and asked guests to put in the bowl the cost of their meal, so that it could be distributed to people displaced from their homes due to World War II. Since then, our supporters have given over $200 million to support people living in war-torn countries.

September 2010 – Cameras with a conscience

Photography workshops

In September 2010, Creativity4Good are heading to Siem Reap, Cambodia to support a local children’s home, Anjali House, who provides refuge, care and education for more than 80 under-privileged children between the ages of 4 and 16 years old.

Founder of Creativity4Good Erin Johnson and local primary school teacher at Kiewa Valley, Krystle Horadam will be running photography workshops with the children teaching them about all aspects of photography using second hand donated cameras.

“Photography is an incredibly powerful communicate tool and a way for these children from terribly disadvantaged backgrounds to get their messages, concerns, worries and hopes out in the public eye, raising awareness about the current situation in Cambodia.”  Says Erin

The mission titled “Cameras with a Conscience” is calling out for unwanted digital cameras which families may have laying in the cupboard, and also old film slr cameras for the more experienced kids to give them an understanding of manual photography. Also batteries, film, memory cards, photography books and donations to process the film when they return with the possibility of a fundraising exhibition at the end of the year.

Stay tuned for more updates!

June 2010 – CBM Disability Campaign

Documentary & Photography

In June 2010, Creativity4good, Room3 and speaker Sam Cawthron embarked on an incredible journey for CBM to Southern India to document issues about disability in the developing world. We were introduced to some inspiring young people living in remote areas, who are advocating for their basic human rights whilst living with a disability. The project is currently in post production stages and will be launched later this year – stay tuned.

Mean while here are some behind the scenes shots from the shoot.

June 2010 – Save A Dog

Photography & Documentary

Save-A-Dog Scheme is an incorporated, non-profit, community-based organisation controlled and operated by volunteers with the help of paid staff. It operates as a registered animal shelter and combines this with foster care in the community. Each dog is desexed, vaccinated, wormed, microchipped, vet-checked and temperament-assessed prior to adoption.

Creativity4good has been asked to supply Save-A-Dog with ongoing photographs of dogs, cats and rabbits currently up for adoption for use on their website and for promotional purposes which we are thrilled to be involved in. Also in pre-production is a documentary for the shelter to raise awareness about the fantastic work the volunteers and shelter staff do for abandoned animals. Stay Tuned!

May 2010 - YWCA NSW Story Sizzler

Domestic Violence

YWCA NSW supports vulnerable people at those critical transition periods in life when they are more prone to falling through the gaps. They develop skilled & contributing individuals and support their families to create secure & resilient relationships, to build healthy & inclusive communities that are able to thrive.

Creativity4good was commissioned by YWCA NSW to develop 4 unique campaigns for use virally, at fundraisers, presentations and on television to raise awareness of the incredible work YWCA NSW achieve within local communities. This year YWCA are trying to raise $130,000 in 30 days, which this campaign will be highlighting, helping YWCA to achieve this goal.

“Working with Erin has been one of the highlights of my time at YWCA NSW. It has been a truly collaborative process and inspiringly creative. Erin’s professionalism, warmth, passion, flexibility, willingness to go above and beyond and just sheer genius for film making has resulted in some incredible promotional videos for us, which we are now using to great effect to raise much needed funds for disadvantaged families in NSW. I cannot recommend Erin highly enough and just wish I had more projects for her! We all look forward very much to working with her again.” __________________________ (Nicola Reeves - Head of Marketing & Campaigns)

September 2009 - Meg's Childrens Home

11 minute Documentary

In 2009 I was made aware of a local woman from rural Australia who was doing some incredible work in Nepal, helping to relocate 20 children from a corrupt and poorly run orphanage. Inspired by her story I made contact with her and learnt more about the organisation she had set up call Meg's Childrens Home. Wanting to help her out in anyway I could I put up my hand to do a mission trip to take over some supplies to the kids (blankets, medical supplies, clothes, books and so on) and also told her that I had some camera experience, a PD150 and that I could do some interviews with the kids and make up a small documentary to help publicise organisation. The trip went fantastically, I was so inspired by the country, the people, the generosity and plan to go back again in December.

April 2009 - Better Place

60 second action campaign - in collaboration with Make Believe

Better Place Australia is part of a global company dedicated to zero emissions driving. They will enable the mass adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in Australia by providing the infrastructure and services that make it easy, affordable and attractive for motorists to adopt and drive electric vehicles.

Sydney based company, Make Believe asked me to create a punchy, clear campaign which would communicate to the people of Australia just what Better Place was all about. Using stills and stop frame animation I created this video which was really well received. And as an update, Better Place have just secured financing from HSBC for $350 million taking their value up to $1.25 billion to get the plan into action!
